Oregon Taxidermy Workshop

Our workshop is designed to equip students with the skills they need to be able to accomplish taxidermy in their own home or operate as their own taxidermy business.

Class hours are at the owners' discretion and usually run 8a.m. to 4p.m. Monday through Friday, sometimes longer. 

We have two workshops to choose from:

The Business Workshop

This is a 5-week program designed to give you the confidence and know-how to begin and operate your own taxidermy business.

There are no tuition fees. You are signing up for a workshop to learn with a working taxidermist.

Attendance includes shop rental and the purchase of a taxidermy kit. Taxidermy kits for this course consist of basic hand tools, materials, animals and will equip you with all you all you need to accomplish your mounts - all you need to bring is a camera, gloves and notepad. 

  In addition to learning hands-on the basics of taxidermy tanning your own capes, you will choose 5 of any of the following topics as a personal goal (if time allows you will be able to add more without charge):

  •  gameheads
  •  lifesize animals  
  •  birds 
  •  reproduction fish
  •  rugs
  •  antler plaque mounts / skull / european mount
  •  soft tanning / leather making
  •  bases, habitat and diorama
  •  business essentials ie. record keeping, ethics, finances, advertising etc.

You will keep all of the work you do.

This program is designed to give you knowledge, there is no way to predict how much work each person will be able to accomplish.Your choice of 5 projects is a goal for you workshop. You are not required to complete this many, nor are you limited to this many. If time allows you are welcome to complete more.

The cost is $6,200. 

A $1,000 deposit is required to sign up, the remaining $4,900 is due at the beginning of the workshop.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Hobby Workshop

This is a 3-week program designed to give you the confidence and know-how to do taxidermy at home as a hobby.

There are no tuition fees. You are signing up for a workshop to learn with a working taxidermist.

Attendance includes shop rental and the purchase of a taxidermy kit. Taxidermy kits for this course consist of basic hand tools, materials, animals and will equip you with all you all you need to accomplish your mounts  - all you need to bring is a camera, gloves and notepad.

  You will experience hands-on the basics of taxidermy tanning and choose 3 of any of the following topics as your personal goal (if time allows you will be able to add more without charge):

  •  gameheads
  •  lifesize animals  
  •  birds 
  •  reproduction fish
  •  rugs
  •  antler plaque mounts / skull / european mount
  •  soft tanning / leather making
  • bases, habitat and diorama

You will keep all of the work you do.
